The Journal is founded with the purpose to publish, divulge and stimulate research activities related with the application of microscopy. It will be edited twice a year. The publications are oriented to:
1. Scientific articles in applications of electron microscopy, optical microscopy, atomic force, scanning tunneling or other microscopy techniques, describing ultrastructural studies in biology, medicine and materials science. 2. Innovations in instrumentation, techniques and methods for specimen preparation. 3. Review articles 4. Educational articles describing a specific microscopy technique or preparation method. These articles are directed to students or new users of microscopy. Therefore, the educational orientation should be considered in the writing of the article.
The articles will be reviewed by at least two (2) referees and the content of the articles should have not being submitted to any other publication.
Languages All manuscripts submitted for publication can be written in English, Spanish or Portuguese. The abstract should be written in English and Spanish or Portuguese. The author (s) can also authorize the Editorial Board to translate the abstract into Spanish.

Divisions The text should be divided in the following order: 1. Title 2. Abstract 3. Keywords 4. Text 5. Acknowledgments 6. References
Tile page This page must include: 1. Title (font Times New Roman 12, capitals letters, centered text) 2. Name (s) of the author (s) 3. Institutional affiliation and complete mailing address 4. Corresponding author should be indicated with individual postal and e-mail address, telephone and fax numbers.
Abstract The abstract should indicate the content of the paper and should present main conclusions. It must not exceed 250 words. It must be written in English and Spanish or Portuguese.
Keywords Keywords should be included, not to exceed 85 characters, including spaces, maximum 5 words.
Text The text should be presented in the following order (these instructions do not refer to review articles or educational articles): 1. Introduction 2. Materials and Methods 3. Results and Discussion 4. Conclusions
Scientific names should be typed in italics. When abbreviations are used, the names should be spelled in full the first time mention, followed by the abbreviated expression in brackets.
Review articles: for review articles the title should be preceded by the heading in capital letters: REVIEW: These articles should have a broader technical content than scientific articles, and should have a wide literature review. A free organization of the test is accepted, however keeping the format requirements described above.
Educational articles: also have a free organization of the text, keeping the format requirements described above. It should not be forgotten that these articles are directed to students or new users, therefore, it might be useful (although not obligatory) to include practical examples for a clear description of specific topics.
References A list of references should be numbered in square brackets according to the order of the citation in the text. Each reference should be typed in this order: author’s name, year of publication in brackets, full title of the reference in inverted colons, name of the journal in italics, volume and pages, as follows
[1] Faridani A., Ritman E.L., Smith K.T. (1992) “Local Tomography. SIAM” J Appl Math 52:459–484
If the reference is a book, the information of publisher should be typed in this order: author’s name, year of publication in brackets, full title, place of publication, editor and pages, as follows
[2] Cao G, (2004) Nanostructures & Nanomaterials. Synthesis, Properties & Applications, London, Imperial College Press, pp. 135–138
In the reference list “et al.” is unacceptable, the full authors should be listed. References to personal communications, unpublished data and manuscripts in preparation are unacceptable.
Figures and tables Figures should be good quality photographs or drawings. Symbols, letters, numbers and scale bars should be of sufficient size to be clear recognizable. Symbols and letters used in micrographs and tables must be explained in the legend.
Micrographs magnification should be indicated by a marked scale line, and its dimension can be indicated in the photograph or in the legend (SI units should be used).
Figures should include its own legend with a self contained description. The titles of each table should be at the top.
Illustrations in color can be accepted. All figures and tables should be numbered consecutively with Arabic numerals. Each illustration and table should be included in the appropriate location in the text.
Manuscripts for revision must be sent in Word format. Once the manuscript is accepted for publication must be send in Word format.
Send the manuscript to the following e-mail address:
